Relay race without communication limits

As one of Europe’s largest relay races, Roparun relies on fast and reliable communication to coordinate teams across more than 500 kilometers. During Roparun 2026, our partner Flash Private Mobile Networks once again selected GroupTalk as the Push to Talk platform for race coordination across the French and Dutch routes, ensuring smooth operations for thousands of participants.

Following the successful implementation during previous events, we continued improving how our operations teams communicate during the race,” said Hugo van Hees, Race Director at Roparun. “GroupTalk and Flash helped us create a more structured and reliable communication environment for both dispatchers and teams in the field.

Using the GroupTalk Push to Talk app together with PC Dispatch (Command & Control), the Roparun control room was able to separate communication channels between operational teams and team leaders — reducing congestion and improving clarity during critical moments.

Key capabilities:

  • Real-time GPS positioning of teams and staff
  • Instant Push to Talk communication with dispatchers
  • Structured communication groups for different operations
  • Improved coordination during incidents and route management
  • Reliable 4G / 5G communication

Especially during large-scale events, communication must be simple, immediate, and dependable,” van Hees explained. “The collaboration between Flash and GroupTalk helped ensure smooth operations throughout the event.

Large public events place high demands on communication systems. By using 4G Push to Talk technology, Roparun gained a scalable and flexible communication solution capable of supporting event staff across long distances and multiple operational areas.
